Villa Vijfhuyzen

THE ABANDONED HOUSE IN BELGIUM

Villa Vijfhuyzen, also known as Villa Heil, was a hauntingly beautiful abandoned house in Aalst, Belgium. This grand villa once stood as a symbol of elegance and mystery. Its story, however, remains largely untold.

The villa’s history is shrouded in mystery. It is believed that a lawyer once lived here. This is suggested by the hundreds of legal papers found in the basement. These documents date back to the 1920s. They provide a glimpse into the villa’s past life.

The decline of Villa Vijfhuyzen began with a devastating storm. The storm destroyed parts of the roof, allowing rainwater to seep in. Over time, this water caused significant damage. The floors rotted and eventually started collapsing. This marked the beginning of the end for this once-stately home.

Walking through the villa, I could feel the weight of its history. The villa, though decaying, still held a certain charm. The grand architecture and the remnants of its past were captivating.

Unfortunately, Villa Vijfhuyzen was demolished in 2018. The house is no longer standing, but its memory lives on. I visited Villa Vijfhuyzen in 2015, I documented my visit with photos, capturing the eerie beauty of the abandoned villa. At that time, the house was still for sale.
