Villa Les Belles

THE ABANDONED HOUSE IN BELGIUM

In the heart of the Belgian city Sint-Niklaas, nestled behind overgrown foliage, Villa Les Belles stood as a once-vibrant mansion that had sadly fallen into disrepair. Its walls held untold secrets, and its former grandeur was now obscured by the passage of time. The house met its end in 2012.

The villa’s history is intriguing. Built in the late 1990s, it had served as a brothel—a place where clandestine desires met shadowy corridors. The entrance led to an impressive vaulted corridor, adorned with faded wallpaper

Most of the houses I photograph are in a very bad shape, but this one was pretty nice and not that old. The entrance let to an impressive vaulted corridor and to a beautiful staircase that let to the upper floors where we found several bedrooms.

Neighbors had complained about the visitors and the decline in property value. Eventually the owners fled, leaving the villa to decay. In 2012, the wrecking ball arrived, demolishing this once-seductive sanctuary.
