Ferme Saint Valentine
Ferme Saint Valentine is an abandoned farmhouse in Limburg, Belgium. It stands in a quiet countryside area. No signs or names mark the house, but in the urbex world, it is known as Ferme Saint Valentine. The house has been empty for many years, and time has left its mark.
The farmhouse once belonged to an elderly farmer and his wife. Inside, I found old family photos, small memories of a simple life on the land. After the owner passed away, several family members inherited the property. Sadly, no one took care of the house or the barns. Decay came quickly.
Structure fell
By the time I visited, half of the building had already collapsed. The other parts were in very poor shape. Roof tiles were missing, windows were broken, and water had entered the walls and floors. The damage made the building unsafe. In 2021, when part of the structure fell, the fire brigade came to inspect it. People feared the front side could also collapse onto the street. Luckily, that part was still stable, and demolition was not needed.
Signs of life
Today, the farmhouse is slowly disappearing. The wooden floors are soft and broken in places. Walls are damp and covered in green moss. In some rooms, the ceiling has fallen down completely. Yet in the middle of the decay, you can still see signs of life: a rusty sewing machine, a cupboard, an old photo on the wall.
Ferme Saint Valentine has no grand history, but it tells a quiet story. A story of a couple who lived and worked here, and of what happens when a home is left behind. It is a strong example of the beauty of forgotten places and the power of nature to take them back. I visited the abandoned farmhouse in 2023.
