Cimetière de Trains

THE ABANDONED TRAINS IN FRANCE

I found this ‘Cimetière de Trains’ at an old shunting yard in the north of France. The trains and wagons are all owned by an association of volunteers.

The club of railroad fanatics started in 1981 and collected and restored old derelict railroad locomotives, carriages, and wagons. In 1990, they start a touristic museum line. After 4 years, the trains make their last journey due to compliance issues.

The association is located in an old station, the rolling stock is parked outside at the old tracks. Because there is a lack of funding and interest of the public, the vehicles are now rusting away. These photos on ‘Cimetière de Trains’ were taken in 2012.
